Yoga for Beginners 1: Get Going!

Here we go! I’m rolling out some online yoga classes, and I am happy to present this first one. I call it yoga for beginners because I feel it’s a class that many people who are new to yoga can manage, but it’s still a nice practice for those who are more experienced, as well. That’s the neat thing about yoga: you might advance to new poses, but you never outgrow the first ones you learned.

I hope you’ll give it a try and take the time to like, comment, and share if you enjoy it! And feel free to send me a message if you have any suggestions about how to improve or what else you’d like to see as I create new classes for you.

There will be more beginner-style classes and others, as well. All in due time!

  1. Just got a mat for Christmas! (Much easier/safer than my wood floors) and I can’t wait to try this! Hoping that yoga can help strengthen my core and help with my chronic low back pain.

    1. Perfect timing! Yeah, the wood floor is not so comfortable. ๐Ÿ™‚ Yoga is excellent for helping with back pain…I just read an article the other day that says exercise is your best bet for dealing and healing. You might find at first that some poses — specifically, backbends and maybe some twists — will hurt, so take it easy with those at first, and really focus on lengthening your spine as you arch. I think you’ll find that as your strength and flexibility improves, your pain will diminish. Keep me posted! And I’ll work on putting together a class that specifically addresses back pain. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I’ve tried a few Yoga for beginners videos at home for some time before but I never stuck with any of them. But I loved your video, the explanations on how to adapt if you can’t make the exact pose because of flexibility/mobility issues. I’m definitely looking forward to your next video for beginners!

    1. That’s great, Natalia! I’m so glad it worked for you. There’s another video up now on my YouTube channel (and the “Beginner Yoga” page on this site), and they’ll be coming at the rate of about one per week. ๐Ÿ™‚
